What makes a portrait look Renaissance
Portraits of the 16th and early 17th century, from Italy to Flanders and the Netherlands, share habits people still recognize at a glance: the sitter turned three-quarters toward the viewer, a plain dark background, soft light from one side, and clothing that shows rank. Late in the period that meant dark velvet, gold embroidery, heavy chains and a starched white ruff. Our renaissance style paints these cues in a glazed oil texture with fine cracks, so the result reads as an old painting rather than a costume photo.
Your dog keeps its own head, breed, fur colors, markings and eye color, while the outfit and pose come from the style; the front paws rest in front instead of hands. There is one renaissance look today, with no choice of colors and no crown; for a crown and throne, use the royal style. Dogs and cats are tested; other pets are accepted but not tested yet.

What is a dog renaissance painting?
A dog renaissance painting shows a dog as a noble from the 16th or 17th century, painted like an Old Master portrait: its own head above a velvet doublet, a white lace ruff and a gold chain, against a dark background. On aipetportrait.ai the renaissance style makes one from your own photo in about 30 seconds and keeps your dog's breed, face, fur colors and markings.

What will my dog wear, and can I change the outfit?
Every renaissance portrait uses the same outfit: a dark velvet doublet with gold embroidery, a white pleated lace ruff and a gold chain with a pendant, on a dark umber background. You can't choose colors, swap the ruff or add a crown in the generator today. Generating again with the same photo gives small variations in pose and light.
What is the difference between the renaissance and royal styles?
The renaissance style paints your pet as a noble in a velvet doublet and lace ruff, like a 16th–17th-century portrait, with no crown and no throne. The royal style shows your pet as a king or queen, with a jeweled gold crown, a red velvet robe with ermine and a throne in a palace. Both cost the same and keep your pet's face, fur colors and markings.
Does it work for cats and other pets?
Yes. In our tests the renaissance style kept a calico cat's patches and green eyes and a Shih Tzu's pink hair clip as well as a Border Collie's different-colored eyes. Dogs and cats are tested; other pets are accepted but not tested yet. Use a photo where your pet's face is sharp and turned toward the camera.
How much does a renaissance pet portrait cost?
An HD renaissance portrait costs 1 credit. aipetportrait.ai sells one-time packs of 20 credits for $5.99 and 80 credits for $14.99; credits never expire and there is no subscription. Yes. The HD file is 2048×2048 pixels, square and without a watermark. It prints sharply at about 6.8 × 6.8 inches at 300 DPI, and works for a canvas around 14 × 14 inches at 150 DPI.
